Frequently asked questions

Final grade with 30% homework, 30% midterm, 40% final?

Convert each part to percent (score ÷ max), then combine: e.g. 85/100×30% + 92/100×30% + 78/100×40% = 84.3%. Enter three rows with score, max, and weight % on this page.

Weighted course grade formula

Course % = Σ(score ÷ max × weight) ÷ Σ weights. Different max points per item are fine—each becomes a percentage first.

Combine homework, quizzes, and exams into one grade?

Add one row per graded item: score, max, weight % from the syllabus. For a single correct/total quiz, use the test grade calculator instead.

Assignment out of 20 or 50 points?

Enter the real max (e.g. 20) and your score (e.g. 18) plus weight %. The tool uses score ÷ max—no need to convert to /100 first.

Do weights have to add up to 100?

No—30/30/40 and 3/3/4 give the same result. Only the ratio matters.
